Methodist Daily Prayer

Connecting the Church During The Coronavirus Pandemic

A Simple Daytime Liturgy

This may be used at any time of day

Favour us, Lord, and deliver us.
Lord, come quickly and help us.

I trust in you, O Lord!
I affirm, “You are my God.”

A prayer of confession

God of mercy,
your love for us is strong,
but our love for you is weak.
You call us to follow Jesus,
but we are slow to obey.
You care for all that you have made,
but we ignore the needs of others
and misuse your creation.
We are sorry for our sins.
Forgive us,
and help us to please you
by the way we live;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God is love
and forgives our sins through Jesus. Amen.

Scripture Reading

A moment of reflection

These or some other prayers:

Hear our prayers, Lord
Not as we ask in our ignorance
Nor as we deserve in our sinfulness
But as you know and love us in Jesus our Lord.

Prayers are offered...

O Christ, the master carpenter,
who through wood and nails accomplished the salvation of your creation;
wield well your tools
in the workshop of your world
that we, who come rough-hewn to your bench,
may be fashioned to a truer beauty of your hand. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Be near to us, Lord, in all that we must do today. May our hearts and minds
be open to your will and purpose
and our life fully lived in the knowledge of your promise

that you can do more for us than we can ask or imagine. Amen.

Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
